Happy December!

Hello there, and happy December! I am sitting here this evening looking out over our neighbourhood which is slowly lighting up with Christmas lights. Such a buzz in the air! I've been munching away on candy canes all afternoon, and I've created a candy cane inspired treasury in Etsy Poster Sketch that I can't wait to share with you! Just have to get myself a treasury again!

Speaking of treasuries, did you see my Teal Appeal treasury on the front page of Etsy on Sunday? I just happened to log in at the right time (how lucky is that?) and I saw it! So happy for the sellers that were featured, and all the sales that they made!

A couple of days ago at work, I spent quite some time signing my name on dozens and dozens of Christmas cards that we send out to our customers. I thought I would put together a little collection of some of my favourites from Etsy. Enjoy!

When I finished creating my treasury I had a browse through each of the shops featured, and WOW! I fell in love with many things, but none more than these vintage inspired ceremics, you have to go see for yourself!

So sweet! These creations are by Whitney Smith. Sometimes my etsy radar functions in a rather delayed manner, and I am suprised when amazing work like this pops up seemingly from nowhere. I can't believe I have only discovered these now, Whitney has even been a featured seller on Etsy before! So this is me catching up .. Wowww!! Look at those birds! Adding to my 'one day when my paintings are walking out the door and I have so much cash I just have to spend it' list. :)

There is one very talented artist I have bean meaning to share with you for a long time.. Amy Giacomelli (who paints under the brush name of Natalia Skye) is the very first artist that caught my attention on etsy, and I am still continually inspired by her work - I can be found checking in at any one of her four etsy shops daily! Make sure you have a look at each of her shops, because they each have a slightly different feel/style.

Who would have though that preloved wool sweaters could be turned into creations so adorable? I'm so impressed! These creations are from ViolaStudios, and are made with recycled and repurposed materials. These wonderful sculptures are by Middleburg and I think this tree full of birds has inspired me - I have been thinking about it for days, maybe this weekend I'll make some paper mache birds of my own. I have a sculpture technique of my own that I'd like to write a tutorial for - maybe this weekend I'll have some time out from painting and make something different!

I'm sure by now you have noticed the terrarium trend. The amazing little indoor gardens have been blogged about a lot, and you can find many of them complete and for sale on etsy. I have been thinking about making one, there are so many tutorials out there and you really don't need many supplies. Sometimes when I see something very cute, or something I really, really love.. it hurts! Do you know the feeling? I am so fascinated by these amazing scarves at the moment. I love scarves, I wear one most days, sometimes I forget to take it off before crawling into bed. Just look at all the gorgeous things by G. Sakowski Designs. I think I will have to invest in one of these scarves sometime in the near future, I am in love. The only problem is.. I don't think I could choose just one! Wow!

You know that feeling when you see something and fall in love with it instantly? Well that happened to me today when I stumbled across this big rabbit from TummyMountain. I have a thing for rabbits at the moment, I've painted some today, and just finished a print I will be posting soon. Last week, I even travelled about an hour to my husbands workmate's house, spent the afternoon watching them play tennis.. just so I could have a cuddle with some pet rabbits he has at his house. I "heart" Vol25!

Thought it was about time I shared one of my 'hearts'! There are so many Illustrators out there that inspire me.. Anyway - it seems as though I am the last person to discover this particular little corner of the etsy world. Vol25 is a shop filled with delighful drawings, and I discovered that the voice behind the shop - Jessica, and I have a few things in common.

We are around the same age.. I am still a bit younger (for some reason I don't like people in the online etsy/blog community to know my age.. more about that another time!)
We both like to please customers, Jessica stating that "a heartfelt customer testimonial is just about the greatest payment you can receive". I agree. And.. I also enjoy customizing work for people.
I am also self taught, and inspired by things around me - every day.
I also enjoy cooking.
And most of all, I agree that sleeping in should be made a sport.. I would be an Olympian! :)

The Freckled Hound

I love his vinyl decal by The Freckled Hound . I seem to be lacking motivation and direction at the moment.. I don't feel like I have much more than scraps to work with at the moment, so hopefully with perseverance a quilt will come out of it! I did actually start making a quilt today, it was all I could manage as I can hardly move.. (nursing various aches and pains from a weekend whitewater kayaking trip) so I sat there cutting, and have just finished cutting out all of the squares.
